Love song of a young couple sailing from Ireland; later the ship sinks.
Record created as part of the California Sheet Music Project.
[The song has also been called "The wreck of the emigrant ship" and "They sail'd away." This arrangement by Evans did not credit the composer of the music, George Barker, or the writer of the lyrics, Mrs. Crawford. Different sources listed Mrs. Crawford's name as "Louisa McCartney Crawford" or as "Annie Barry Crawford." The discrepancy in her names was not resolved. Sam Wells was a minstrel singer in San Francisco during the 1860s. Matthias Gray was a music publisher in late nineteenth century San Francisco.].
