Description

California Preservation Service
This program, taped at Headlands Center for the Arts featured Fred Wilson, Tim Burgard (Timonthy Anglin Burgard), and Kathleen McLean in conversation. Fred Wilson is a New York-based artist whose work reveals the hidden racism within museological practice through examination of collections, language and other factors. He received a MacArthur "genius" grant in 1999. The discussion features an analysis of the roles that race and class play in the exhibitions and collections of Bay Area museums and institutions. Timothy Burgard is a curator of American Art the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. Kathleen McLean is principal of Independent Exhibitions, a museum consulting firm specializing in exhibition development, design, programming, and strategic planning.
