This film by T.E. Weier, Professor of Botany at UC Davis, contains footage of Sonora Pass in the Sierra Nevada in 1941. Other footage in the film is described by the following title cards: “August 1941, we camp near the summit of Sonora Pass in dusty gulch on a tributary of Deadman’s Creek;” “Before Climb;” “Snow fields high above our camp intrigue Mr. Pickwick;” “Lunch in the shade of mountain pines;” “After descent;” “Flowers;” “Have you nothing better to do,” “Sunday afternoon,” “The fall of 1941 is to be remembered for the gasoline we did not use,” “Football at Berkeley, The Aggies Lose,” “The Spochers are overnight guests,” “People Arrive,” “The Kick-Off,” and “The Aggie Band.” This film contains footage of two 1941 UC Davis football games, one at UC Berkeley and one at UC Davis, presumably versus the University of Nevada. The home football game also contains a performance by the Cal Aggie Marching Band.
