Oral interview of Mary DeDecker, born in 1909, in Oklahoma. Stories included relate to DeDecker's years in Independence, marriage to Paul DeDecker, and raising her family in the Owens Valley. Also, her community activism in relation to the Owens Valley Committee and Inyo County water issues, formation and accomplishments of the Bristlecone Chapter of the California Native Plant Society, and issues surrounding the Japanese and Chinese in the Owens Valley. Additionally, DeDecker shares stories about her friendships with Kate Mulholland granddaughter of Los Angeles water icon William Mulholland, Owens Valley Paiute Johnnie Symmes, and Philip Munz, as well as her passion for the Eastern Sierra wilderness and experiences with ranching and mining in the Inyo Mountains.
