Description

California Audiovisual Preservation Project (CAVPP)
Two interviews by Jane Morgan on the subject of Philo Farnsworth. Jane Morgan was the author of "Electronics in the West," a primer on the early electronics industry in California, published in 1967. She was also involved with the Foothill Electronics Museum, located at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills. As part of her research, and ongoing interest in the electronics industry, she interviewed many of its key players. Part 1 is an interview with Philo Farnsworth conducted in May 1968 on the nature of creativity and invention, and Farnsworth’s views on spirituality. Part 2 is a discussion in 1965 with Farnsworth’s colleague Clifford Gardner, during which Morgan reviews her manuscript with him to make corrections to her chapter on Farnsworth and Gardner’s contributions to television development. The recording is part of the Perham Collection of Early Electronics, donated to History San Jose in 2003 from the defunct Foothill Electronics Museum.
