Description
California Audiovisual Preservation Project (CAVPP)
Silent travelogue documenting the San Francisco Peninsula. The film begins with a drive over the Golden Gate Bridge to Fisherman's Wharf, and features scenes of cable cars, ships in the Bay, the Legion of Honor, Japanese Tea Garden, Lloyd Lake and the Marin Headlands, before heading south on Highway 1 past Ocean Beach and Daly City. Commuters are shown exiting the Southern Pacific railway followed by quick scenes of the major roadways: Highway 101, Cabrillo Highway, and El Camino Real. The film highlights the Peninsula cities of Hillsdale, Foster City, San Mateo, Burlingame, San Carlos and Redwood City (including the Redwood City Saltworks), as well as visiting San Mateo County beaches along Highway 1: Montara Beach, Half Moon Bay, and Pescadero Beach. The camera briefly captures Skyline Drive and the Methuselah redwood tree, and ends in Woodside.
