Description
California Audiovisual Preservation Project (CAVPP)
Audio records from the public and non public meetings of the California Reapportionment Commission. The Commission was formed pursuant to California State Constitution Article IV, Section 6 which was enacted in 1926. The Commission was to reapportion California's legislative districts if, after the decennial census, the legislature and the governor could not agree to a reapportionment plan. This article of the California Constitution was enacted in 1926, but was found null and void as part of a California Supreme Court Decision in 1972, which found that it was in-severable from another part of the initiative which was passed by the voters and found unconstitutional in 1963.
