California Audiovisual Preservation Project (CAVPP)
Footage includes excerpts of the 1948 performance of Willam Christensen's first full length story ballet, Coppelia at the Stern Grove Festival. As San Francisco Ballet was in a transitional period, the company performed under as the Willam Christensen Ballet Company. Music was provided by members of the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra under the musical direction of Fritz Berens. Coppelia featured music by Leo Delibes and costumes by Russell Hartley (the founder of the Museum of Performance + Design). The footage includes excerpts from the production and intercuts with wide angle views of the audience. There is no audio available.
