Description
This hand-colored stereograph card features two nearly identical, side-by-side rectangular photographs with rounded corners, mounted on a light-brown, pebble-textured cardboard backing. The image depicts a scene at an emergency refugee camp, where a young woman in a red-and-white striped long-sleeved shirt and dark trousers stands prominently in the foreground. To her left stands a man in a dark suit and hat, and in the background, several white canvas tents are pitched on the grass. The sky is a pale, hazy blue, and a wooden chair is visible near one of the tents on the right. Small, light-colored text printed at the bottom right of the photographs reads: "No. 1014. Emergency Camp and Costume of San Francisco's young ladies who lost everything in the disaster.". Below the mounted stereograph, a gray and black color calibration scale is visible within the frame.
