Description
A black-and-white, sepia-toned group portrait from approximately 1909 captures thirteen men inside a rustic wooden dwelling. Six of the men are sitting, and most look toward the camera. In the near right foreground, a bentwood-style chair is partly visible; some of the men wear white shirts or jackets and a few are holding wide-brimmed hats. In the background, the wooden wall of the interior can be seen, and light leaks into the space through irregular gaps in the roof above and behind the group. The room has a visible timber frame and wide floorboards. A photographic color calibration scale and a metric ruler are placed along the bottom edge of the physical print, which shows signs of aging such as darkened edges and tape marks at the corners. The lighting is bright, coming from the left, creating a slight glare on the seated figures in white.
