Description

Undeveloped neighborhood.
This monochrome photograph, taken between approximately 1914 and 1920, depicts a wide, unpaved intersection in an undeveloped residential area. Two large, white masonry pillars made of 4 columns each stand on either side of a road, marking an entrance or boundary. In the distance, several early-model automobiles are visible on the road, approaching the foreground. The surrounding landscape is largely open and flat, with a few young, thin trees scattered along the roadsides. A pale, hazy sky meets a distant, low-lying ridge of hills in the background. The photograph is presented with a thin white border within a digital frame.
