Description

This sepia-toned stereograph features two nearly identical, side-by-side images mounted on a single yellow card. The photographs show a massive, gnarled grapevine with a thick, central trunk that branches out into a complex network of vines supported by a large, rectangular wooden arbor. The arbor consists of a grid of beams and slats that create a ceiling of foliage and hanging branches. In the foreground, at the base of the central trunk, two people in period clothing are seated on the ground. Several vertical wooden posts support the structure, and more people can be seen standing or sitting in the background beneath the wide canopy. The ground is flat and light-colored, and the entire scene is enclosed within what appears to be a large hall with visible architectural beams in the upper background. Below the image, a grayscale color calibration strip is visible.
