Description
This horizontal, sepia-toned photograph from the late nineteenth or early twentieth century captures a wide, light-colored driveway or path leading toward an ornate gated entrance. On the left side of the driveway, a tall palm tree with a thick, textured trunk and fan-like fronds stands prominently, partially overlapping other dense, dark-foliaged trees and shrubs. The gated entrance in the center-middle ground features two light-colored stone or masonry pillars flanking a dark, metal gate. To the right of the driveway, a large, rounded cluster of dense bushes and smaller trees lines the path. In the background, more trees and a few utility poles are visible against a pale, featureless sky. Along the left edge of the photograph’s white border, a vertical color calibration strip with colored squares and a grayscale step wedge is visible.
