Description

A black-and-white stereographic photograph shows a narrow dirt path winding through a dense grove of large, twisting oak trees, featuring two nearly identical side-by-side images mounted on a yellow card. The path is bordered on both sides by a rustic wooden fence made of interlocking, unrefined branches. The thick trunks of the oak trees lean over the walkway, their heavy limbs draped with moss and covered in dark foliage that creates a dappled light effect across the ground. The perspective leads the eye down the fenced path toward a brighter, open area in the distance. Running vertically along the left edge of the left image is the text "HOMES OF CALIFORNIA," with the subtext "ILLUSTRATED BY MUYBRIDGE" centered beneath it. The same vertical text and subtext appear on the right edge of the right image. At the bottom center of the yellow mount, the words "MOSSWOOD, ALAMEDA CO." are printed. Below the photograph, a gray-scale calibration strip with labeled shaded blocks is visible.
