Description

A sepia-toned stereograph features two nearly identical photographs mounted side-by-side on a yellow card, showing a large brick Gothic Revival cathedral on a street corner. The building features a prominent, tall square bell tower with decorative crenellations and small pinnacles at its top. To the left of the tower, the main body of the church has a gabled roof and arched windows. The cathedral is situated at the intersection of two unpaved streets, with a few small, distant figures of people visible on the sidewalks near the entrance. To the right of the cathedral, a smaller two-story brick building is attached. Vertical text is printed on the side margins of the card: the left margin reads "Illustrated by MUYBRIDGE. Published by BRADLEY & RULOFSON." and the right margin repeats the same text with a small circular logo. A yellow vertical label on both sides also includes the text "SAN FRANCISCO". A small, printed caption at the bottom center of the images includes the number 387 and identifies the location as St. Mary's Cathedral.
