Description
A sepia-toned stereograph features two nearly identical photographs mounted side-by-side on a yellow card, showing the interior of a large hall or dining room. The perspective looks through an open, arched doorway into a brightly lit room where several figures in white clothing are visible sitting at tables. In the foreground, the wooden floor leads toward the doorway, and the walls are decorated with dark wood paneling and framed pictures. Ornate, dark-colored chandeliers or light fixtures hang from the high, vaulted ceiling. Vertical text is printed on the side margins of the card: the left margin reads "Illustrated by MUYBRIDGE. Published by BRADLEY & RULOFSON." and the right margin repeats "Illustrated by MUYBRIDGE. Published by BRADLEY & RULOFSON." with a small circular logo. A yellow vertical label on both sides also includes the text "CALIFORNIA". Small, printed text at the bottom center of the images identifies the location as the State Institution for the Deaf and Dumb, and Blind in Berkeley, specifically the entrance hall and dining room, and includes the photographer's number 1769.
