Note
Issued in slipcase.
One-of-a-kind artist book.
Accordion structure that extends from back pastedown to a length of 90 inches but folds down to 5 double pages featuring black ink as well as red and silver paint accents with cut-outs and pop-ups spanning the folds. Lenox printmaking paper. Slipcased. Signed by the artist. The work blends two of Munson's fascinations: pop-up structure and sumi-e (East Asian ink wash painting, the goal of which is to capture the spirit of a subject rather than its appearance). Howard Munson's artist statement: "An exploration between the folds tied together with sumi."
