A special map featured in a 1911 issue of Deutsche Erde, Zeitschrift für Deutschkunde, a geography journal issued by the commercial publisher Justus Perthes. Its founding editor, staff geographer Paul Langhans, was a prominent agitator for the Alldeutscher Verband (the Pan-German League) and a spokesperson for antisemtic, volkish, ethnocentric and nationalistic organizations.
