Relief shown by contours and spot heights. Depths represented by soundings. After independence was declared in 1918 Latvian topographers replaced the existing Czarist Russian topographic coverage of the country at the scales of 1:42,000, 1:84,000, and 1:126,000. The new Latvian map series utilized the Gauss-Krüger projection, Soldner coordinate system, and the Bessel ellipsoid. Complete coverage of Latvian territory was achieved through the new 1:75,000 map series. Work on the new Latvian 1:25,000 topographic map series was never completed. Also shows land cover. Each sheet is individually numbered in upper margin: 67-e -- 67-i -- 69-f. Compilation statement varies: "Sastādijis un rekognoscējis pēc aerofotografijām 1931.g. uz 1:42 000 kartes pamata kapt. Stek̦is" (Sheet 67-i) -- "Uzn̦emts 1935 g. Kpt. Skudrulis" (Sheet 69-f). Includes magnetic declination information, a list of trigonometric points, and reference card in right margin. Distribution restriction in upper left corner: "Slepeni" [= secret].
