German ethnographic map series of Slowakia published by the Publikationsstelle Wien, an Ostforschung research institute which collected, translated, analyzed and visualized census data from countries in southeastern Europe. Its head, Wilfried Krallert, a geographer and historian, also held a position at the Reichssicherheitshauptamt (RSHA) of the SS, in the SD, the intelligence service of the SS. Krallert also served as a consultant to the Rasse- und Siedlungshauptamt der SS (RuSHA), the SS Race and Settlement Office. Krallert's maps served as planning tools for German ethnic cleansing and genocide during World War II.
