Description

The image depicts the front cover of a magazine, dated March 1937, and features a two-tone relief print in dark brown ink. The central graphic depicts a stylized, blocky representation of Sather Tower (The Campanile) on the UC Berkeley campus. To the left of the tower is a profile silhouette of a person’s head, and two other figures are depicted below and to the right of the tower. At the bottom of the illustration, the phrase "IS WAR OUR HERITAGE?" is written in a bold, sans-serif font. The masthead at the top reads "COMMUNIST CAMPANILE" in large, uppercase, blocky letters, followed by the subtitle: "OFFICIAL ORGAN OF THE LINCOLN STEFFENS BRANCH OF THE Y. C. L." On the right side of the cover, a vertical column lists several article titles, including "THE N.Y.A. and MRS. DILLING AT U.C.," "Why Communists Support the Peace Strike," "What Is The Y.C.L. On the U.C. Campus?," and "Revolution In Reverse." The bottom right corner indicates the location as "BERKELEY, CALIF." and lists the price as "5c."
