"Artist, publisher unkown. Title from first line of poem printed beneath image. Full text of printed poem: The place we hear about, from old and young / The place who's fame by every urchin's sung / Shall be my home. On Sacramento's shore / I'll swing the pickax, for the Golden Ore; / ""Except"" Fair Lady you consent to be / Amalgamed with the Gold that's now in me. Address in ms: Miss Cordelia Wells, Onondaga Hill, N.Y. Care of [Dia - H.R.G.?], Onondaga Co. No ms message on sheet; sender unknown. Includes 5-cent Benjamin Franklin stamp and Feb. 15 New York postmark. Per vendor's description, postage stamp was issued 1847 and used until 1851. Not recorded in Baird or Peters."
