Thomas Rundall is professor emeritus at UC Berkeley in the School of Public Health. After receiving both his undergraduate degree and PhD in sociology at Stanford University in the 1970s, Rundall took a position in the Cornell University Sloan Program of Health Services Administration. Following an offer from the UC Berkeley School of Public Health, Rundall moved to California with his family and joined the School as a faculty member in 1980. Rundall also served as Executive Associate Dean of the school, where he oversaw multiple initiatives, including his leadership of the graduate programs in health management and his co-directorship of the Center for Lean Engagement and Research in Healthcare (CLEAR). In this interview, Rundall reflects on his career in public health academia, the UC Berkeley School of Public Health, and UC Berkeley's online MPH degree program.
