Description
This sepia-toned stereoview photograph from the late 19th century consists of two nearly identical side-by-side images mounted on a rectangular yellow card with rounded corners. The central subject is a single, tall evergreen tree standing prominently on a rugged, rocky slope. In the background, steep, jagged rock formations and cliffs rise under a pale sky. A set of telegraph poles with a single wire runs horizontally across the middle ground behind the tree. On the left side of the yellow mount, the text "Scenery of the Union Pacific Railroad." is printed vertically in a serif font. On the right side, the text "W. H. Jackson, Photographer." is printed in the same vertical orientation. Small printed text at the bottom center of the mount reads, "No. 99. One Thousand Mile Tree, Weber Canon.". A grayscale and color calibration target is positioned directly above the physical photograph.
