Description
This sepia-toned stereoview photograph from the late 19th century consists of two nearly identical side-by-side images mounted on a rectangular yellow card with rounded corners. The elevated landscape view captures a wide panorama of a city nestled in a flat valley. In the foreground, a light-colored, single-story building with a gabled roof stands on a grassy or dirt slope. Beyond it, the middle ground is filled with numerous low-rise structures and houses interspersed with trees. In the far distance, a range of dark, rugged mountains rises against a pale, hazy sky. On the left side of the yellow mount, the text "Scenery of the Union Pacific Railroad." is printed vertically in a decorative serif font. On the right side, the text "W. H. Jackson, Photographer." is printed in the same vertical orientation. Small, faint printed text at the bottom center of the mount reads, "No. 152. Great Salt Lake City.". A grayscale and color calibration target is positioned directly above the physical photograph on a neutral gray background.
