Joan Busquets is Professor in Practice of Urban Planning and Design at the GSD, Harvard University and principal at BAU Barcelona. Arquitectura i Urbanisme (www.bau-barcelona.com). Till 2002 he was Professor at the School of Architecture in Barcelona. A world-renowned urban planner and architect, Busquets served as Head of Urban Planning for the Barcelona City Council in the preparations for the Barcelona Olympics 1992. From the '90s he has been developing urban projects in several European cities such as The Hague, Delf, Geneva, Rotterdam, Toulouse, Toledo and Lisbon among many others around the world like Singapore, Shanghai, Ningbo and Sao Paulo. He has been recently awarded with the world-known Erasmus Prize from The Netherlands in 2011; the Cultural Prize in Architecture of Catalunya Spain and the Special Grand Prix in Urbanism from France in 2012.
