Claim filed by James Swanson, administrator, Mar. 23, 1852. Confirmed by the Board Dec. 20, 1853. Confirmed by the District Court Sept. 15, 1864. Patent issued to the heirs of William Welch July 22, 1870. for 13,292.82 acres. The patent is recorded in Martinez, Contra Costa County. No. 113 General Land Office map. Toma 207 gives 5 instead of 3 leagues as the amount of the grant. This rancho was also called Welch Rancho. Bowman, J.N.
