The presidial pueblo was authorized by the Territorial Deputation on Nov. 3, 1834; 4 leagues. Claim filed by the City of San Francisco July 2, 1852. Confirmed by the Board Oct. 3, 1854, for the land within the city limits. Confirmed by the Circuit Court Oct. 31, 1864, Nov. 2, 1864, and May 18, 1865, and Feb. 4, 1867, for the 4 leagues. Appeal dismissed by the Supreme Court Dec. 21, 1866, by mandate. Patent issued to the City of San Francisco June 20, 1884, for 17,754.36 acres which included the US resverves and the patented areas amounting to 4,915.705 acres, leaving 12,838.655 acres for the city. The patent is recorded in San Francisco No. 155 General Land Office map. The grant of 238.93 acres by Congress on Dec. 20, 1886, was not part of the pueblo grant, but part of the public domain.
