Granted (1) by Alvarado June 18, 1841, New Helvetia, 11 leagues, by name, and (2) by Micheltorena Feb. 5, 1845, the sobrante of 22 leagues. The first grant was to John A. Sutter and the second to John A. Sutter Sr. and John A. Sutter Jr. Claim filed by Charles Covilaud, J. M. Ramírez, W. H. Sampson, adm., R. B. Buchanan, and G. N. Sweazy May 31, 1852, for about 1,200 acres. Confirmed by the Board May 22, 1855. Confirmed by the District Court Apl. 10, 1858. Rejected by the Supreme Court Dec. 23, 1861, by mandate, because the claim, when definitely located by a survey, will be determined by the decisions confirming New Helvetia and rejecting the sobrante.
