Note
Shows the southwestern Soviet Union, chiefly the Ukrainian SSR (after it absorbed eastern Polish and Romanian territories), and the newly-established Moldavian SSR (formed in 1940 from Romanian territory and the Moldovan ASSR).
Also shows international boundaries in 1941 (and historical international boundaries, from 1926), and administrative divisions within the Soviet Union, including local districts. Data about those local administrative divisions was derived from national censuses of the USSR (1926), Romania (1930), and Poland (1931), and therefore was dated by the time the map was created.
Also shows the size of urban populations in local administrative districts, water features, marshes and swamps, and forested areas.
"Verwaltungsstand entsprechend der Volkszählung von 1926 (UdSSR), 1931 (Polen), 1930 (Rumänien)."
In upper right margin: "Nur für der Dienstgebrauch!"
Includes table which functions as a pronounciation guide for place names.
