Friant Dam, San Joaquin River. The maximum storage within Millerton Lake is 520,500 acre feet, and the lake’s maximum depth is 287 feet; length is 15 miles. The San Joaquin River stretches nearly 400 miles from the Sierra Nevada to the Sacramento Delta. The river has played many important roles in the California’s development – providing riverboat transportation for logging and mining, water supplies for farming and cities, and hydro-electric energy.
