Presumably based on Sutter's grant of New Helvetia. Claim filed by the City of Sacramento Mar. 3, 1853, for about 4 square miles of the land within the city limits. Rejected by the Board April 17, 1855. Appeal dismissed by the District Court April 21, 1856. It was not claimed as a Mexican grant; and was rejected because of lack of evidence of such a grant.
