Note
Photograph taken by Ellis Black Hayes. Written on the back of the photograph: One of the school children in costume, a Christmas play. Every year a Christmas celebration was held for the children, with a tree and toys and candy for each child. Three trees were decorated in different parts of the ranch so that each child would be able to attend. The list of children was between 310 and 325 - Even during the first two years of revolution, the festivities were arranged for, but during the last three years we have been unable to do this. It was Mrs. Hearst's wsh to do this, and was a wonderful thing for the children who had never [held?] a toy before. Babicora.
