Description

Pictorial relief from the rear wall of the Left Chamber of the Wu Family Shrines, Jiaxiang, Shandong. Here, the left portion of the wall, three registers of relief depicting six figures grouped on either side of a snake coiled around a vessel; a horse and chariot with a figure standing before it and another figure, behind it, giving something to a smaller, kneeling figure; two figures brandishing hammer and axe, apparently rushing to aid a third, who is prone on the ground with a snake wrapped around his body.
