Description

Rubbing of the wooden box in which Liu Yanting (Liu Xihai 劉喜海, 1793-1853) stored the matrix for a mold for round coins of the daquan wushi type dating to the Xin dynasty of Wang Mang 王莽 (r. 9-23); according to the inscription on the box, Liu bought the matrix from Huang Xiaosong 黄小松 (Huang Yi 黄易, 1744-1802).
