Description

Votive inscription concerning dedication of a grotto temple and an image of the Buddha in stone by the mendicant Huicheng--the temple on behalf of the state, and the image on behalf of his father, Yuan Shiping 元始平, regional inspector of Luozhou 洛州--at Longmen during the Taihe era (477-99). Includes title inscription.
案此為洛陽龍門四品之一。有額，正書"始平公像一區"六字。封面簽題下署"明治三十三年[1900]春"小字一行。
