Description

Stele inscribed with the epitaph of the woman née Yang 楊, mother of Wu Zetian 武則天 (r. 684-705), interred at Shunling; stele and gravesite prepared by the empress's command. Epitaph composed by Wu Sansi, nephew of Wu Zetian, and written in the calligraphy of Li Dan (Tang Ruizong). This album includes rubbings of the fragments found by Ma Fengzhi and a rubbing of a postscript by Ma Yuhua concerning his discovery of one of the fragments.
案原石明萬曆四十二年(1614)地震震毀，清同治間(1862-1874)馬毓華修孔廟得其碎石三塊，後毛鳳枝又將其二十九字之一石嵌於署中壁間，故諸家著錄紛歧。本拓後有同治五年(1866)馬毓華(菉斐)題記三行。
