Description

After performing the feng 封 and shan 禪 sacrifices on Songshan in 696, Wu Zetian conferred on Wangzi Jin 王子晉 (6th cent. B.C.) the title Shengxian taizi, "Immortal Prince," and ordered construction of a temple on the site of sacrifice; in 700 this stele was erected to commemorate the temple's completion and the prince's preferment. Composed by the empress and written in her calligraphy. Includes title inscription, in "flying white" script (feibaishu 飛白書). These albums also include rubbings of the verso of the stele, with inscriptions of personal names, including that Zhong Shaojing 鍾紹京 (fl. 707), and verses added during the Kangxi era.
