Description

This monochrome artotype from 1887 shows a large, three-story Victorian residence featuring a wide, curved facade and a complex roofline. The building includes a prominent rounded corner section that extends into a conical roof, adjacent to several gabled peaks with decorative timbering and patterned shingles. Multiple tall, ornate chimneys with masonry detailing rise from the roof. The ground floor is characterized by a series of arched windows and a partially visible porch structure. A dark, ornate wrought-iron fence borders the property along the sidewalk. To the right of the mansion, a vertical grayscale color calibration strip is included in the frame. Faint text printed along the upper margin of the image reads, "Artotype No. 8. BANCROFT LIBRARY" and "With 'S. F. News Letter,' May 7th, 1887."
