Description
A monochrome artotype plate features a collage of sixphotographs detailing the interior and exterior of a Victorian-style residence. At the top left, a narrow, three-story house is shown with a raised e ntryway and a two-story bay window. The remaining 5 images capture various interior rooms, including a parlor with heavy, dark patterned floor-to-ceiling drapes, a dining area with a decorative wooden sideboard and hanging chandelier, and a wide wooden staircase with an ornate banister. One circular inset in the center shows a smaller detail of a room's corner. The images are arranged somewhat overlapping on a light-colored rectangular mounting. Below the collage, a caption reads "ARTISTIC HOMES OF CALIFORNIA" in a decorative serif font, followed by smaller text that identifies the subject as the Residence of Wm. Fries, 1814 Washington Street, San Francisco. A grayscale color calibration strip is visible at the very bottom of the frame, separate from the primary document.
