Description

Apollonios offers to pay to the farmers of the tax on sales a sum of money, in return for which he wishes to learn the business of the tax on sales.
Translation: To N.N., Aniketos, Ptolemaios and Isidoros, contractors for the tax on sales for the 14th year, from Apollonios son of Hermogenes. I undertake to pay for the initiation of the tax on sales, on condition that, taking the proper receipts as regards the banker and agoranomos, I [rightly?] conduct with them the business of the individuals so that the contract incurs no loss, 500 drachmas a month, which makes 1 talent for the year. … will act with me … [The 14th year, Thoth ?] 15.
