Ruth Waldroff was raised in Eugene, Oregon and Junction City, Oregon during the Great Depression. She went to work repairing B-17s in Spokane, WA during the war. She later moved to Portland, Oregon to work in the shipyards and joined the Marine Corp after WWII ended. She discusses her early life, experiences working in the shipyards in both Spokane and Portland, workplace safety, decision to join the Marine Corp, working for the Commanding Officer, getting married while on furlough, and lessons learned from WWII.
