Description
Mary Torres was raised in Donora, Pennsylvania in a Russian family. She moved to California to work in the shipyards when the war broke out, where she eventually settled. She talks about her early life, her desire to join the war effort, moving to CA without her parents knowing, getting a job at the McClellan Air Base, moving to Oakland to work as a welder in the Kaiser shipyards in Richmond, California, workplace safety, meeting her husband, raising children, and getting involved with the National Parks Service and RORI.
