Johanna Roman emigrated to the United States from Germany in 1928 and was raised in The Bronx, New York. She developed an interest in aviation at an early age and joined the Air Transport Command during the war. She discusses her early life and education, working in aviation during the war, workplace safety and leadership, moving to Presque Isle, Maine, time on the base, memories of the end of the war, and changes to New York after the war.
