Description

Kay Morrison was born and raised in Chico, California during the Great Depression. She married her high school sweetheart before the start of WWII. During the war, she and her husband worked in the Kaiser shipyards in Richmond, California, where she was a journeyman welder. She discusses her early life, memories of D-Day, patriotism and her desire to contribute to the war effort by working in the shipyards, experiences on the job, memories of San Francisco, California and the East Bay, memories of the end of the war, work at Bank of America, and getting involved with the National Park Services and RORI later on, including a trip to the White House to honor her service.
