She learned to sew at an early age and worked as a designer before working on an assembly line making B-47s in a factory. She discusses her early life and education, making solidier uniforms on Adams Street in Brooklyn, New York, her time working in a factory, her decision to join the sisterhood, and the role the Church played in her life.
