Jill Shoemaker graduated from UC Santa Barbara in 1982. She moved to San Francisco immediately after and enrolled in UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Commerce, Industry, and Labor. She graduated with her MBA in 1984 and went to work at Del Monte. In 1986, she was recruited by Dreyer’s, where she on leveraging Direct Store Delivery, the roll-out of new products, and built up the Premium brand. In her interview, she describes the culture and personal fit of Dreyer’s, learning from her mentors and colleagues, staying on after the sale of Dreyer’s to Nestle, and her time abroad in Switzerland.
