Description
David Wellman was a graduate student in the Department of Sociology and a representative to the Graduate Coordinating Council [GCC] of FSM. He had been active in the civil rights movement in the Bay Area and a leader of Friends of SNCC and served on the editorial board of The Movement newspaper. Wellman discusses his own political background as a red-diaper baby and the differences between the Old Left and the New Left, and his involvement in SDS after FSM. At the time of this interview he was a professor of sociology and a founder of the Community Studies Program at U.C. Santa Cruz.
