Description
Siegfried Hesse graduated from Boalt School of Law in 1950 and was working for the Continuing Education of the Bar at UC Berkeley. He volunteered to help students who were cited by the University at the beginning of FSM and became a critical part of the legal defense throughout FSM. In this interview he discusses the political leanings of the defense attorneys, architecting a strategy to represent the students in one unit, reckoning with defendants’ waiving their right to a jury trial and drafting appellate briefs.
