John Taylor earned his Ph.D. in economics from Stanford University in 1973. He then worked as an economist for President Ford’s Council of Economic Advisors before returning to a faculty position fulltime. He was named to President George H.W. Bush’s Council of Economic Advisors in 1989 and he then served as President George W. Bush’s Under Secretary of Treasury for International Affairs from 2001 to 2005.
